Behind the Booth: Our Conversation with Jesse Swanson of Chaos Productions

When we began building the VOW Preferred Vendor Community, we weren’t simply looking for talented wedding professionals—we were looking for people who lead with passion, professionalism, and a genuine heart for serving couples. Jesse Swanson, owner of Chaos Productions, was one of the easiest “yeses” on our list. 

After spending time hearing his story, learning about his approach, and talking through what it truly takes to create an unforgettable wedding experience, we walked away even more confident in why Chaos Productions is a VOW Preferred Vendor—and even more excited to introduce Jesse to all of you.

Why We Had Him On

We wanted our very first podcast guest to embody what VOW is all about: authentic conversations, trusted relationships, and a shared passion for creating unforgettable wedding experiences. Jesse was the perfect person to help us set that tone. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of watching him lead wedding after wedding with the kind of consistency, professionalism, and genuine care that not only serves his couples well but makes every vendor around him better, too. We knew he would bring honesty, insight, and years of real-world experience to the conversation as he shared the journey of growing Chaos Productions from a one-man operation into one of the Greater Omaha area’s most respected entertainment teams. What We Learned

One of the things we appreciate most about these conversations is discovering the work that happens long before guests ever step onto the dance floor. Jesse gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what it truly takes to create a seamless wedding experience, and it quickly became clear that being a Wedding DJ is about so much more than music. From arriving hours early to meticulously setting up equipment, concealing every cable, and ensuring his setup is visually clean and photo-ready, every detail is intentional. As planners, photographers, and videographers, we all know those details matter—and Jesse’s commitment to excellence reflects that.

We were equally fascinated by the technical side of his profession. He shared how he navigates wireless frequency conflicts, prevents microphone interference, and thoughtfully designs lighting to achieve a clean, true-white appearance rather than the harsh or inconsistent tones often seen with less experienced setups. These are the kinds of details most couples never think about, yet they can make a significant difference in both the guest experience and the final photographs and video.

Perhaps the most meaningful part of our conversation, however, was hearing how Jesse personalizes moments for his couples. Whether creating a custom father-daughter dance using cherished voicemails or producing a heartfelt tribute for a loved one who has passed away, these aren’t premium add-ons or upsells—they’re simply part of the care he brings to every celebration. It was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable weddings aren’t defined by production alone, but by the thoughtfulness, compassion, and personal touches that make each love story uniquely its own.

What also stood out to us was his commitment to collaboration. Jesse believes the best weddings happen when vendors work as one team. From introducing himself to fellow professionals before the day begins to communicating throughout the event and ensuring photographers, videographers, planners, caterers, and venue staff all have what they need to succeed, he understands that a seamless wedding is never the result of one person—it’s the result of everyone working together with the couple’s best interests at heart.

As Chaos Productions has grown to a talented team of six DJs, Jesse has remained focused on building something that extends beyond himself. He invests in training, mentorship, and maintaining a consistent standard of excellence across his entire team, ensuring every couple receives the same level of professionalism and care. In fact, he was the first to tell us that if a couple connects with one of his DJs more than they connect with him, that’s exactly the outcome he hopes for. That kind of humility, confidence, and commitment to putting couples first speaks volumes about the culture he’s built.
